Of the 15,000 business aircraft registered in the U.S alone, most owners and operators were trapped paying exceedingly high fees for inflight Wi-Fi.
What’s more, the majority of passengers just wanted to stay in touch with family and friends on the ground via text, and keep abreast of business communications via email – the two most important communicative tools in society then and now.
We knew there had to be a better way to serve these people.
For passengers that needed access to live Internet we had to cut their Wi-Fi charges significantly, and for passengers that needed simple connectivity we had to deliver an alternative platform that could support this for a fraction of the price of Wi-Fi.
In 2012 BizjetMobile achieved something monumental. We had identified Bluetooth as an untapped yet viable platform upon which to deliver voice, text and email communications to passengers.
Bluetooth was like the little brother to Wi-Fi, but now the little brother had grown up taller, quicker and more intelligent. We were able to engineer a unique low-cost Bluetooth solution for business jets that used App technology to deliver the simple communication tools that a large slice of the market desired.
During this time we also developed App technology that would monitor and control live inflight Internet – allowing passengers to avoid high spending bills and aircraft operators to properly monetise their Wi-Fi offering. We incorporated the Bluetooth platform into this service therefore providing passengers with low-cost text and email too.
These products would make a significant mark on the industry over the next two years…
